Well, the holiday season is here again. We just got past Thanksgiving and now we are getting to Samhain/Halloween. The boys spent last evening planning and carving their pumpkins. You might have guessed that I helped Quinn a bit and that was how he wanted it but I can assure you that the design is his alone. Now we have to get the costumes ready. Quinn and I went to the store for some cotton today to get his mummy costume ready. Fergus wants to work with last years look so it is already one we posess. He wants it shredded though so that he can be recognised as the "dead ninja" that he is.
We are meeting here again this year. We are usually a group of three or four families and we have dinner together, go out, come back, have a glass of wine while the kids count their "loot" and (for our family anyway) the arrange for the "candy fairy" to come and magically change the candy into a wanted toy or money towards a wanted toy. Fergus is more committed to the idea of the candy fairy then Quinn. Quinn really wants to do what Fergus does though and so I suspect we will get another year without the candy hanging around. The reality is that the boys always forget when the *do* have treats in the house so I can't imagine that they would remember to eat much of the candy.
Tonight I had the gift of time with some local friends. We had a "women's night out" and went to the new Thai place in town. The food was GREAT and so was the company. I came home to a husband who had missed me and wanted some time alone so we left the boys downstairs at Grandma and Grandpa's house and went for a long walk in the crisp fall air. Now all three of my boys are crashed out in the bed beside me. Ahhhhh, I love having them so close.
Now it is sleep time to get ready for a visit tomorrow with friends from Burlington.
I'll probably post again before next week but in case I don't, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
