The loss of wonderful womyn

Yesterday I learned of the passing of my paternal aunt, Emily. She was my father's eldest sibling and was the womyn I lived with when I was 13. My high school was on strike and my parents wanted me to stay in school instead of hanging around Clarksburg wondering when the strike would end.
The irony wasn't lost. When my dad was a teenager he lived with this same sister in her early years of marriage. She had three young children and her teenage brother living with her and her husband in Kettleby. What chaos must have ensued.
I shared the dance floor with my aunt at my sister's wedding on August 16th. She appeared to be in great health. Since then I have learned that she was experiencing periodic bouts of cramping and pain in her legs due to what was later diagnosed as a blood clot which ran from her knee to her hip.
Four weeks later the pain resulted in a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and hospitalization from the last week of August. She was surrounded by family and had many visitors in her final few weeks.
She will be missed.

I hope that your memories of your aunt continue to comfort you, Sam. It sounds like she played an important role in your life and I have no doubt you did in hers.

Hugs to you....
