Wow! The boys have been away at a sleepover with friends in Erin since yesterday afternoon. (I will meet them at the ice rink this afternoon to play some hockey.) Can't wait to see them. You would think that I get enough time with them to be able to afford a night or two away but I miss them so much when they are gone. I know I sleep better when they are home.
This weekend was pretty calm compared the all of the events of last weekend (Hallowe'en, a birth, dinner date with my dh, and a birthday party for a 3 year old sweetheart). This weekend we celebrated my birthday and that of another friend (E) at my favourite restaurant. This couple spoils me. I can say that without feeling embarrassed (almost).
Q and I made a couple of dozen GF shortbread cookies (I have a recipe for GF cookies that is AS good as those with gluten if anyone wants it) as a birthday gift for E. She and her husband gave me a HUGE bouquet of flowers and an iPod Touch. See. I told you I am spoiled. They are too kind. Such sweet people though and we really enjoy spending time with them. It is fun to hang out with young parents (by that I mean parents with children much younger than ours are) and watch them parenting in a similar fashion as to how we did it with the boys. It was a great time.
After Friday night the highlights of the weekend included cards with friends who are moving this week and time alone with my dh last night. The friends who are moving are the parents to Fergus' very best friend, A. A's mom and I are great friends as well and so the loss that our family is about to experience is going to be profound. We will remain committed to making plans to get together a couple of times a month for sure to relieve the loss for kids and adults alike.
Last night Doug and I went to Kelsey's and just sat together and enjoyed salads and snacks while we were able to talk and reconnect after a busy week. I worked every evening this week (except Friday) so we really haven't seen each other since last Saturday when we went out for our date at Osso Bucco. I miss him when I don't see him. He is my very best friend in the whole world and I need to connect with him often.
And more great news!!! My business partner and her husband are now the proud parents of another baby boy. She gave birth last Wednesday morning after a fast and exciting labour to Steven James. Kristin, Greg, Jonathan and Steven are happy in their nest, getting to know one another better. (Jonathan likes Steven already because Steven was smart enough not to arrive empty-handed. He brought Jonathan a really cool gift!!! Smart baby!)
