Let it snow!

I woke this morning to Doug coming into the bedroom to say good-bye. In an of itself this fact is not surprising. I get a kiss good-bye every morning before my beloved leaves for the office. This kiss typically comes at 7:50-8:00 am every day. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the clock and realised it was 8:30. (He doesn't start work until 9:00 and it is only 15-20 minutes away but he likes to be early) Why was he so late leaving? Snow! That's why.

I didn't believe him. Sure, last night when I went to bed (around 1:30 am) there were a few flakes in the air and the car had a slight dusting of fresh snow on it but how could THAT much snow have fallen in the few hours in between? I don't know but they had. Not only that but the forecast is for warmer temperatures and rain this afternoon so he wanted the driveway cleared before the ice sets in tonight -- when the temps are supposed to drop again to below freezing and stay that way for a few days. He is so S-M-R-T!

Right now my boys are snuggled in my bed watching a movie. Fergus is on the mend but Quinn is feeling quite crappy. Poor guy. Doug starts his holidays this weekend and we are surprising the boys with a trip away. I REALLY hope they are feeling better by the time we leave on Saturday morning. The drive will be long enough that they will have time to recover. It is our FIRST family vacation ever!! We have camped and been together for weeks at a time but never have we gone away and spent time in a distant destination, alone, without family or friends.

What else is new around here?? Oh yeah, the playroom looks totally inaccessible at the moment. Last week the boys had their friends, Cole (10) and Chad (7) here for a play after skating. They came out asking for some hemp or wool and I **knew** something was up. I had come home the day before and found a great fort made with blankets in the living room so I had my suspicions. Alas, a short time later C&Cs mom, Sherri, and I were beckoned into the play room to see the huge fort the boys had made. They had even gone downstairs to Grandma's house to ask her for a lamp so they would not be without light. What a cool construction. Fergus had used the wool to string around the room and drape the blankets over. Genius!!!

That night and for the next couple of nights Fergus and Quinn slept in their special fort. I couldn't resist. I had to sneak in and grab a couple of pictures of the two of them in our sleeping bags. They are so sweet.

How sweet? The other night I went in to say "good night" (I go in at least a couple of times a night after tucking them in) and was told that they were scratching each other's backs. Their arms were intertwined as they each reached around the body of the other and scratched the back. Isn't that sweet? They feel asleep that way. Quinn can often be found with his head on the shoulder of his big brother and Fergus is always happiest when he is snuggling. It is just the best feeling ever to see them be so wonderful with one another.

Well, I have a couple of blog entries to write for babyREADY and a birth story for a baby who will be one on Thursday but before I can do that, I have to make lunch and go see a baby for a breastfeeding consultation. It is never a dull day around here!!

Love to all!

Of course Cole and Chad just had to come home and build a fort in Chads room as well. It didn't last very long as I couldn't handle doing the Mission Impossible maneuvers to get to the bed for good night kisses without intertwining myself within all of the wool :)
