I have some WONDERFUL online friends and every year many of us group together and send parcels to be opened during an international Yule chat. This will be the fourth time I will have participated and tonight I finished preparing the gift for my recipient. I can't wait to post it tomorrow. She will be so excited. This group of friends is incredible. We have seen one another through every possible up and down and group of people could experience and yet we are still as strong as ever even though many of us have never actually met IRL. They are the reason I turn on my computer every day. To you (and you know who you are) thanks!!!
It has been a predictable week. My sister and I went to the December 6th candle-light vigil at U of T last night. It was incredibly sad and at the same time, I was so angry. We run to stand still. Things never really change and year after year we attend this vigil and mourn the lives of women and children lost to the anger and hatred of their partners (or co-parents) and yet the numbers never go down. It can be difficult to feel optimistic. I will try to do my part and help my children learn to respect everyone around them. Violence never fixes any problems.
The weather is cooling down and we finally have a skiff of snow. It isn't enough for tobogganing or making snowmen yet but the boys haven't figured that out. Fergus was dragging Quinn up and down the street in their toboggans the other evening without realizing how much easier that will become with a few more inches of snow. It is great to see their enthusiasm. Someday they may resent the snow as much as I do so for now, I will encourage them to get out and have fun.
You too!
