Well, we are on the other side

We should be good to go by the beginning of March. You don't need a lot of information (I am sure) but suffice it to say, we have taken measures to significantly decrease the likelihood that Fergus and Quinn will ever have another sibling.

It was a quiet weekend around these here parts. After Doug's parts were, well, parted . . . he took to bed and we watched a lot of TV. He laughed at one time at the idea he was spending so much time in front of the television. I guess that's what it takes to get him to slow down enough to rest and veg out.

I went out on Friday afternoon and picked up some videos for all of us to watch or for Doug and the boys to watch on Saturday while I was at work. I grabbed You, Me and Dupree for Friday evening and the new Superman for Saturday. I also got them some holiday episodes of The Simpsons.

Before I get back to the Friday night movie I must first take you back about 9 years. Many of you already know that my elevated blood pressure created a health situation which resulted in me needing to spend a great deal of time on bed rest while I was pregnant with Fergus. I was new in Georgetown and didn't have any family or friends in town to come by and keep me company. Because of my loneliness (we didn't subscribe to cable television then either) Doug made it his job to keep me in movies that he knew he wouldn't want to see. He came home one day with several romantic comedies for me. One looked promising (about a couple having a baby together) and I popped it into the VCR.

**Side note: If you know what the name of this movie is, please let me know. It is not Jersey Girl and the characters in this film are British. That's all I can tell you though.**

The movie opened with a couple, clearly in love, preparing for the birth of their first child. I was really getting into this. Doug had definitely chosen well. Things came to a crashing end as the womyn then died during the birth process. My blood pressure flew through the roof and I quickly dialed his cell phone to ask just "What the he!! were you thinking, renting a movie where the mother dies during childbirth???" The poor guy. He had NO idea. He read the back and of course it didn't say what happened so he thought it would be great for me. The father goes on to find new love and raise his child and heal and everything else but man, that was NOT how I wanted to think birth might unfold.

Anyway, that is how we experienced life as we moved towards having our first baby. Now that we have committed to being finished with our childbearing years, I managed to rent a movie that uses the word vasectomy more times than I think I have EVER heard it said in a combination of all of the movies I have ever seen in my life altogether. If you are looking to hear how a vasectomy can be used as a plot line in a film, I recommend watching You, Me and Dupree.

I am being called to play a game of LIFE (ironic isn't it, given the topic of this post??) and should sign off!

Until next time!
